As part of the UK government’s ongoing reforms to improve corporate transparency and tackle economic crime,
mandatory identity verification is being introduced by Companies House.
From 18th November 2025, the following individuals will be legally required to verify their identity:
- Company directors
- Persons with Significant Control (PSCs)
- Members of entities such as LLPs
How verification will work
There will be three main routes:
- Online via the GOV.UK One Login system (passport/driving licence required)
- In person at selected UK Post Offices
- Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)
Verification will be a two-step process:
- Verify your identity and receive your personal Companies House code
- Link this code to each directorship or PSC role you hold
