What takes 16 accountants 24 hours to complete and only has a 40% success rate?

It’s something we do that’s beyond the numbers.

For a number of years now, the Verallo team has supported a charity through our work. This year we’re taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge.

The Three Peaks Challenge is 26 miles and ascends a total of 3,064 metres

On the 17th June 2023, a group of 16 brave souls from our team at Verallo will be attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge. This challenge involves climbing the highest mountain in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours.

We will be climbing around ten thousand feet and walking almost 26 miles, not to mention travelling 460 miles between the peaks. Although 90% of people complete all three peaks, only around 40% manage it in less than 24 hours so we have set ourselves a stretching goal!

This year we are raising money for Daisy’s Dream, a charity that helps children and their families who are facing and following bereavement to cope. We’ve chosen Daisy’s Dream as it’s a local Berkshire-based charity with an important mission.

Each year Daisy’s Dream support hundreds of families with a service that supports children and their families who have been affected by the life-threatening illness, or bereavement, of someone close to them. This ranges from over the phone advice for parents, carers and professionals to 1:1 home and school visits for children, as well as therapeutic group events.

All of Daisy’s Dream’s services are provided to families completely free of charge and they don’t receive any statutory funding for their work so donations are critical to the charity’s work.

1 child in every average class has been bereaved of a parent or sibling

It’s a startling statistic that a parent of children under 18 dies every 22 minutes in the UK; that’s around 23,600 a year. This equates to around 111 children being bereaved of a parent every day. In fact, 1 in 29 5 to 16 year olds has been bereaved of a parent or sibling – that’s a child in every average class size. Therefore, the work of Daisy’s Dream is invaluable to those that they support and we are hoping to raise as much money as we can to support them.
